In a move that is becoming increasingly used by the networks, NBC (GE) has decided to premier its popular "The Apprentice" online several days before it is aired. The one different thing this time is that it will show the first 20 minutes of the show as an appetizer and motivator to get people to tune in from the generated interest.
In the recent past, NBC has offered premieres' of new shows like "Friday Night Lights" and "30 Rock" in their entirety online. With the gradually slumping reality show it is being used more as a primer than introductory.
They will also be showing it on the Yahoo (YHOO), which could help to boost the shows ratings. With the decreasing numbers, "The Apprentice" is reaching the point of being in danger of being cancelled. The online taste has been created for the very purpose of finding a larger audience and reminding people that it's about to begin.
In another trial, Yahoo and NBC are offering a contest for "The Intern" throughout the season. Viewers can try to guess what will happen on each episode. The winner of the contest will win an internship with the "Apprentice" winner for a two-week period.
