
With the National Football League season over, the ESPN hold on being the top cable rated network is over. The ESPN (DIS) network not only dropped from first place, but also dropped out of the top ten prime time average to end the year. They finished with an average of 1.05 million and a 0.9 household rating. For the week ending January 7, they also dropped out of the top 10, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The network that had the highest ratings for the week ending on January 7 was the Disney Channel, which had an average of 2.76 viewers and a 2.3 household rating in prime time. For the week they finished with five shows in the top ten watched on cable, and 11 out of the top twenty. The Mouse continues to roll.
For networks that are ad-supported, the USA Network finished in first place averaging 2.51 million viewers. They were first in the 25-54 age group with 1.17 million and also among adults 18-49 with 1.14 million. Their top show was WWE Raw on Monday night, with an average of 5.02 million viewers during the first hour,
and about duplicating it in the second hour with 5.1 million.
Coming in second for the week was TNT with 2.02 million viewers, then TBS with 1.82 million. Lifetime came in fourth with 1.79 million and A&E finished up the top five with a 1.66 million average viewership.
