Fox has repeatedly said that until they reached the 30 million household distribution mark for carriage, they wouldn't launch their new Fox Business Channel (NWS-A). With recent signings of carriage agreements with Time Warner Cable (TWX) and Comcast (CMCSA), they have now surpassed that total.
In response to the ramped up project, they have placed Fox News Channel interim Washington bureau chief Bruce Becker as the startup’s vp of business news, moving quickly to get the new network staffed and ready to go.
With Beckers placement, Fox is moving correspondent Brian Wilson to take over the transitional position as vp and Washington bureau chief.
Becker was the former Washington deputy bureau chief and Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said that concerning Becker that his “extensive experience and insight in Washington is now integral to our development of the proposed business channel.”
Alexis Glick is already a part of the business channel's team, being named director of the business news last fall.
There has been no specific date or timetable offered by News Corp. COO Peter Chernin on when the business channel will be launched, but has said that once the 30 million household mark had been reached, it would be soon after that when it would go forward.
