In a surging battle to tell the story of the strange death of KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko, Warner Bros. (TWX) has struck first by acquiring the film rights to an unpublished book "Sasha's Story: The Life and Death of a Russian Spy" by New York Times (NYT) London bureau chief Alan Cowell, which unfolds the drama. They've enlisted Johnny Depp's production company Infinitum Nihil to develop the film.
While it hasn't been confirmed yet, it could be a film that will star Depp as past projects taking up by Infinitum Nihil have been. Depp has had a continual interest in the story and has been following it through all its twist and turns.
Infinitum, which is an Initial Entertainment company, will be produced by Depp, IEG president Graham King and Infinitum prexy Christi Dembrowski.
