The recently launched Studio 2.0, a division of Warner Bros. (TWX), created for the purpose of developing content for broadband and mobile, have landed their first deal with Anheuser-Busch. They've been retained to create an online show for the company called in their web site called Bud.tv. The online TV network is set to be launched after the Super Bowl.
Studio 2.0 will produce a show called "Hardly News," which will be a cross between news, games and comedy; with the games section built to draw in users to test their knowledge of pop-culture and up-to-date news.
Keeping up with the popularity of newscasts that have a heavy dose of satire, that'll be a big part of the show ... along with comedy, a dose of entertainment
and contests for filmmakers.
Producing the show along with Studio 2.0 will be Telepictures Productions which syndicates the website TMZ.com, "Extra" and "Tyra," among others.
This is interesting in that it's one of the options that companies have before them to drive their marketing efforts. While it's not limited to user-generated context, it still offers content that online users will be able to interact with and view. And there will be the opportunity for people to make films to compete with others.
Included with the show will be a desktop application that will empower users to view the content in DVD quality on a full-screen.
An intesting side to this is that the Anheuser-Busch is taking money that they had marked for their TV budget and are redirecting it here.
