The Weather Channel which has always had the challenge of getting people to stay on the channel once they've seen the forecast, are rolling out a couple of new shows to see if they can drive longer visits.
Planned to coincide with the 25-year anniversary of the network, they're rolling out first a five-part series called "Epic Conditions" which will deal with how the weather impacts the extreme sports participants. They also will launch a second five-part series "100 Biggest Weather Moments" which will include commentary on events connected to weather from a number of celebrities and will be hosted by Harry Connick Jr.
In reference to the "100 Biggest Weather Moments" VP of programming strategy/development Kaye Zusmann said that it was the "most sweeping long-form effort" ever by the channel.
S
he added, "We know our viewers have embraced our existing shows about the drama and stories inherent with severe weather, but we feel confident that they will also be enthusiastic about our new programs which embrace the positive, powerful side of weather in all its glory."
