The upcoming launch of the FX drama series, "The Riches," will premiere on March 12 with very little commercial interruption. The network has made a deal with the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films to exclusively sponsor the new series opener by promoting their soon-to-be-released Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez film "Grindhouse."
What The Weinstein Company and Dimension get out of the deal will be three commercial breaks to promote "Grindhouse." The first break, according to Mediaweek citing the terms of the deal, "will be devoted to a theatrical length two-and-a-half minute trailer for the film, while the final two breaks will clock in at two minutes each."
The first episode will feature only six-and-a-half minutes of national air time; whereas usually an hourly program will carry around 16 minutes. Included in the mix will be an additional three minutes of local ad time for sale.
"The Riches" will star Minnie Driver (Dahlia) and Eddy Izzard (Wayne) as a couple of con artists trying to change their lifestyles while moving to suburbia and taking on new identities, named the Riches.
