The 6-week long strike by Canadian actors is over, as the union representing them reached a tentative contract agreement.
ACTRA, the union representing the actors said on their Web site that "ACTRA's first national strike is finally over." The union represents approximately 21,000 workers across Canada.
According to the new terms of the agreement, actors will receive a 10 percent increase in wages over a three year period, along with a 3.6 percent share of all revenue generated across Internet or new media platforms.
The movie and televison producers were represented by the Canadian Film and Television Production Association and the Association des producteurs de films et de television du Quebec. Together they negotiate on behalf of 400 production and other related companies.
While the terms of the agreement will be put into effect immediately, it is still subject to ratification by members of the producers associations and union members as well.
