Move over Lindsay Wagner, there's a new girl in town. British actress Michelle Ryan has been chosen to be the new Bionic Woman, who was chosen after a search far and wide, beating out a lot of other big-name stars.
The Bionic Woman was a show from the 1970s that dealt with the story of Jamie Sommers, who was a tennis pro that almost died in a skydiving accident. She became the bionic woman when she was basically remade through bionic science.
The Bionic Woman was originally a spin-off of The Six Million Dollar Man and will be "re-imagined" according to the producers for the pilot that will be shown on NBC (GE).
Daily Mail, citing Variety said, "NBC considered some better-known actresses, but ultimately went with someone who’ll be a newcomer to most American viewers."
Ryan was in a BBC soap "EastEnders," playing Zoe Slater over a 5-year period. She also had a role in "Cashback" a British romantic comedy and be in the upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park.
