In a move meant to send a message to shareholders and NBC Universal (GE) as a whole, the company has chosed Beth Comstock to head up their entire ad sales operations. It signals that the company is seriously commited to increasing digital revenue, something some have been questioning.
Comstock will oversee the two broadcast networks, all the cable channels, along with the digital platforms.
The company has targeted a $1 billion goal for digital revenue by 2009, one reason they picked Comstock who has a strong background in that area. She had been the president of digital media and market development.
"This is just about the continued integration of digital, traditional and offline," says Andy Donchin, executive vice president of national broadcast for Carat USA.
Continuing to put his stamp on things, Jeff Zucker also named Jeff Gaspin as president of NBCU cable and digital content, and Marc Graboff was tagged for president of NBC's West Coast television operations.
