
The CBS (CBS-A) owner-and-operated station, WBBM-TV scored big in the Chicago market as it recorded its second-highest ratings ever behind the NBA finals between the Bulls and the Jazz on WMAQ-TV, NBC Universal’s (GE) owned and operated station in 1988.
Their overall rating for the night was 50.2 household rating and a 77 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. In the 25-54 demo WBBM had a 45.6/79 in the general adult numbers, and with men 25-54, it went up to 50.9/84.
Even the post-game show scored high as it garnered the highest marks in post game history in the Chicago market with a 12.7/21 household, 9.2/21 in the 25-54 and 10.8/25 with men 25-54.
Indianapolis even did better as WISH-TV, LIN Television’s CBS affiliate took in a 55.5/79.4 household rating - the highest of any broadcast in central Indiana's history. It was also the higest rated metered television market in the U.S.; Chicago finished at No. 3.
The post-game show also was highly viewed with an average of 42.1/63.
