While Paramount (VIA) has already attained the U.S. rights to the upcoming Martin Scorsese documentary on the Rolling Stones, 20th Century Fox didn't wait around to get their own rights as they grabbed rights to the "Stones" in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
The Hollywood Reporter said that "Tony Safford, senior vp and head of acquisitions and co-productions at Fox, and Michael J. Werner, co-chairman of international sales agent Fortissimo Films, announced the deal for the yet-to-be-titled project."
The project is currently in postproduction with Scorsese and his editorial team putting the finishing touches on the film which will include behind-the-scenes historical and current footage and interviews.
Listed as executive producers for the film are the Rolling Stones themselves: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, with Jane Rose the co-executive producer. Producers include Cohl, Victoria Pearman, Zane Weiner and Bing.
Financing came from Michael Cohl's Concert Promotions International and Steve Bing's Shangri-La Entertainment. It is set to be released later this year.
