When the Grammy's thought they could go up against "American Idol" last year, they got clobbered. This year they changed nights to lower the competition level and it worked fairly well for them. They had an estimated 20.1 million viewers watch the show.
It was fun to see The Police perform in anticipation of their upcoming worldwide tour. Others performing for the night were Timberlake, John Mayer, and Christina Aguilera, among others.
To me it's too bad the show isn't based upon quality, entertainment and music anymore, but just a political circus rewarding acts for their political views. No wonder it has plummeted so far in viewership, even with this year being up some from last year. That's not too hard to accomplish when last years' ratings were the lowest in the shows history.
One interesting thing they did this year was the inclusion of a competition for an amateur to be able to sing with Justin Timberlake. The viewers were the ones who decided a winner.
