
The Hallmark Channel has come to agreement with Mediacom Communications (MCCC) in a multi-year deal which ensures the network will be available to the 1.4 million subscribers the operator represents.
After a time when there were concerns on whether the cable network could survive as it was decreasing in viewership in a strong way, the network has now turned around and is the 11th most-watched ad-supported Cable network in prime time. The average nightly viewers are 1.17 million, and increase of 26 percent from last year at the same time.
In its core demographic, they've also increased strongly as they've grown by 10 percent in there 25-54 key group.
The usual legacy license fees for Hallmark are about five cents for each subscriber. The company, and new CEO Henry Schleiff have been pushing for
better rates, as Schleiff promised he'd do when he took over Hallmark.
Schleiff will continue to push this as upcoming negotiations with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and DirecTV will happen soon as the carriage deals will expire before or on December 31.
