
NBC Universal (GE) started offering viewers the ability to watch full episodes of their TV shows on the Internet last October. The results show that the majority of users streaming the shows do it after missing one of the shows on the date it airs. A significant number also went online to see the show again. This is according to a survey by research company Insight Express.
The numbers work out to be 78 percent of users of NBC Rewind - their online video player - say they streamed the show because they had missed it on the air. Those that had already watched it and wanted to see it again numbered at 26 percent. Another 34 percent said that they they took in programming they hadn't seen before.
According to the NBC, those that streamed the shows watched the entire show on the site. Since they opened this up to viewers, there have been 6.9 million users
that have streamed close to 42 million videos on the Web site.
Some of the shows available are "30 Rock," "Friday Night Lights," "Heroes," "Las Vegas," and "Studio 60." This year they're adding "Grease: You're The One That I Want" and "The Apprentice."
