Woody Allen has asked Penelope Cruz to stay available for for is upcoming summer film shoot in Spain. Katrina Bayonas, Cruz's European agent and manager, has confirmed that Cruz has been cast for the film.
The news was announced when foxnews.com's Roger Friedman quoted Allen confirming that Cruz would star in the unnamed film at the recent annual amfAR charity dinner.
Allen's long-time producer, who happens to be his sister, Letty Aronson, will take those responsibilities through her Mediapro and Gravier Prods., which is headquartered in Barcelona.
At this point Cruz's role is unknown as Allen is putting the finishing touches on the film's screenplay. Filming will be in Barcelona, who said that one of the main reasons for doing the project is for the opportunity to be with his family there in the summer. Allen is highly regarded by Spaniards.
Cruz has been in high demand lately as she is also connected to one of her favorite directors, Pedro Almodovar, for what looks like his next project "La piel que habito." Cruz recently won best actress for her role in Almodovar's film "Volver" in the Spanish Film Academy's "Goya" awards.
