With the promotion and visual appeal connected to "300," most felt is was going to be a huge success, but most people had no idea it would do what it did, as the estimated take for the weekend shows that it will break March opening records if it holds. Last years' "Ice Age: The Meltdown" held the March record, opening with $68 million, "300" finished with $70 million. It's the third largest R-rated opening of all time behind "The Matrix Reloaded's" $91.8 million "The Passion of the Christ's" $83.9 million.
"Wild Hogs" was able to hold on for second place, only dropping by 29 percent, a surpising strong showing with many thinking it was going to plunge. It brought in another $28 million for Disney (DIS) and now stands at $77.4 million.
The "Bridge to Terabithia" also held up well as it took in another $6.9 million for Disney and Walden Media, dropping only 23 percent from last week. It actually moved up a notch from last week. It now stands at $67 million overall.

the IMAX has been sold out for days but I refuse to see it any other way. The fact that it's making so much and it's rated R is ridiculous.
