Making a move that increased its online unique visitors by 27 percent, Bravo has purchased the "Television Without Pity" site which puts forth pungent criticisms and recaps of dozens of cable and network series.
The site attracts about 30 million page views a month, says comScore MediaMetrix and Internal Web Analytics Tracking.
Bravo president Lauren Zalaznick said that “This will broaden the scope of our sites to create a community where smart people with something to say about their favorite shows––past and present ––can get together under the umbrella of Bravo’s pop sensibility.”
Not only is it helpful in getting the numbers of visitors added to their current stable of Web sites, but the Web site also includes a very healthy forum where people give their input on their favorite shows. Many people have said that many well-known writers and producers visit the forums to measure how their shows are doing with their fans. The word is that some, like Aaron Sorkin has interacted in the forums and even gotten ideas that became an episode of The West Wing.
Creators of the site, Sarah Bunting and Tara Ariano will stay on as editors and oversee the content of TWoP.
