Last weeks ratings were extremely close but CBS (CBS-A) was able to squeek by Fox (NWS-A) to finish No. 1 for the week. The network ended with a average of 11.4 million viewers for March 19 through March 25 for primetime shows.
Fox was just barely behind CBS with an average of 11.2 viewers during the same dates and time period.
Fox has been able to keep it extremely close with their usual powerhouse "American Idol," but now also have a new threat with the surprisingly popular "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?", which stars Jeff Foxworthy.
Disney's ABC (DIS) has been steady, and finished around its usual viewership, taking in an average of about 9 million viewers a show.
Unfortunately for NBC (GE), their early strong showing has sputtered and they continually lose share as they were only able to draw an average of 7.4 million primetime viewers, to finish last among the big four. How long will the parent company and Jeff Immelt allow this to go on? After making recent leadership changes, I think it's going to put a lot of pressure on Zucker to come through with better numbers.
