David Haslingden, the current leader of National Geographic Channel's overseas operations is now head of the U.S. network as well, being named CEO today.
News Corp.'s (NWS-A) Fox cable networks division is part of a joint venture with the channel, which had named former CEO of the channel, Laureen Ong to be the COO 
of STAR, a satellite TV company owned by News Corp. which is based in Hong Kong, and under the leadership of Rupert Murdoch.
Along with News Corp., others involved with the joint-venture with the National Geographic Channel is National Geographic Ventures and the National Geographic Society.
