Emmitt Smith is going from being king of dancing to a studio analyst for ESPN as he has been hired to offer pregame insight for NFL coverage.
"I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and insight of football with the fans of the NFL," Smith said in a statement released by the network. "I am excited to be joining the ESPN family, particularly the highly respected Countdown crews."
Smiths assignments will include ESPN's NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, and also as an analyst on ESPN.com and ESPN radio. He'll work with regulars Chris Berman, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson and Ron Jaworski, and Chris Mortensen on NFL countdown. On Monday Night Countdown he'll be with Berman, Jackson, Mortensen and Steve Young at the site where the game is being played.
Norby Williamson, an executive VP for ESPN, said that Smith proved that he has a wide appeal through being part of the winning team for "Dancing with the Stars."
Smith is the all-time leading rusher in NFL history.
