Regis Philbin decided that he wouldn't return to host the TV talent competition "America's Got Talent" because of the "heavy travel schedule" connected to the Los Angeles tapings.
But Jerry Springer doesn't mind as he's been pegged to replace Philbin as the new leader of the show, NBC's Craig Plestis announced today.
Pestis said in a statement that Springer was "the perfect ringmaster" for the show, "To say the least, he is known for presiding over an unpredictable show where the unexpected is the typical order of each day." He's of course referring to Springer's hosting of his self-named show for 16 years.
Springer will be ready to join the show when it resumes this summer for its second season. Concerning working the show, Springer said that, "I've been around some of America's most talented individuals on my talk show, so I'll feel right at home hosting `America's Got Talent.'"
