Donald Trump, owner of the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, along with Miss Teen USA, has signed an extension to renew two out of the three with NBC (GE).
Remaining in the NBC fold will be Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, while Miss Teen USA it has been decided won't be renewed. The last broadcast of the Miss Teen USA pageant on NBC will be the summer of 2007.
The shows have struggled in the last years, even though there have been some scandals that renewed interest in some of them for awhile. Even with last years seemingly endless string of problems, the Miss USA pageant was still able to only draw 7.4 million viewers, down from the year before.
Trump responding to the two new extensions with his usual optimism, while ignoring the recent rating declines, said that "With each passing year our ratings continue to get better because of the beautiful and intelligent women who participate in our competitions."
The next pageant will be the Miss Universe contest to be aired in May.
