With the powerful slate of movies coming out this summer, NBC Universal will be promoting Universal Pictures upcoming summer release "Evan Almighty" strongly.
They will be putting a trailer on "The Office" tonight for the entire block of episodes, NBC (GE) is calling "Night at the Office." They will feature a long movie trailer during the advertisements which includes Steve Carell who stars in "The Office" and in "Evan Almighty."
The trailer will also be offered on "Access Hollywood," the syndicated entertainment magazine, on Wednesday and Thursday.
"Evan Almighty" is a sequel to "Bruce Almighty" and will have Carell reprising his past role of Evan Baxter, the TV newscaster that competed with Bruce Nolan, played by Jim Carrey.
Of all the known movies and sequels coming out this summer, this is the one I've felt will have the most trouble gaining traction. It will be interesting to see if it's made in such as a way that it captivates audiences in the midst of the strong competition. If they pull it off, it will be pretty impressive.
With the combination of production and marketing estimated at a potential $250 million, it will be the most expensive comedy ever made to this point. They will really have to do great to recoup those costs.
The movie has a target release date of June 22, 2007.
