For Oprah Winfrey's first entrance into the reality TV field through her Harpo Productions, she's recruited the creators of "The Amazing Race," Bert Van Munster and Elise Doganieri to executive produce the project. It's the first competitive reality show the two have produced since "Race" in 2001.
The show will fit in with Winfrey's penchant for helping people, and will be called "Oprah Winfrey's The Big Give." The premise of the show will be that 10 people will be given money and other resources and then called on to find powerful and emotionally stimulating ways to use the resources to help others.
Contestants will be eliminated weekly with the winner getting their greatest wish granted.
With the reality genre not exactly being kind from critics, Winfrey has chosen those who have won the Emmy for the best competition reality show for the last four years.
The show will be aired on ABC (DIS), which with Harpo is keeping things tight as far as dates of when the show will start, but it is expected to begin sometime this year.
