Battlestar Galactica fans will be glad to hear that not only will the new season have the usual 13 episodes, but the Sci-Fi channel has decided to pick up another nine episodes for season four, scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of this year. That will extend the new season to 22 shows. Since Battlestar is one of my two top favorite shows, this was great news to me.
The beginning of the new season in the fourth quarter of 2007 will include a two-hour special to kick things off, which after that will then release the lastest season on DVD. This coming episode on Sunday, March 25, will be the season finale.
For some this will bring a little concern as a number of fans think that if the network decided to pick up these back nine episodes, it would result in the ending of the series. At this point that seems to be nothing but speculation.
Filming for the 4th season is scheduled for May of this year, and will premiere early in 2008.
The series has won critical acclaim as one of the top 10 programs on television by the American Film Institute for two years in a row.
