Steve Irwin died working on filming scenes for a documentary for his daughter, called "Bindi: The Jungle Girl." In June the series will become a reality as his daughter Bindi Irwin will launch her new television series on the Discovery Kids Channel, said the network.
The show originated from the idea of wanting to get more children interested in wildlife conservation.
The show will be feature Bindi talking about the wildlife world from a treehouse high up in a rain forest, and will have both her parents as guests who show up off and on to share various stories about their adventures with animals.
Sister channel, Animal Planet will air "My Daddy The Croc Hunter," the night before Bindi's premiere, in which she'll talk about what it had been like personally growing up with her father. Clips from her early childhood and footage from Irwin's last crocodile research project in August of 2006 will also be shown.
The project hasn't been without its critics, as they have accused Bindi's mother Terri and her advisers of pushing Bindi into show business, commenting that they believe she's far too young to cope with it.
The network said that "Those closest to her know that she deeply believed in her father's mission to protect wildlife." After Irwin's death, Terri and Bindi made the decision to finish up the project for the series.
