This weekend the adaptation of the comic book "300" continued in the number 1 position, as it took in an estimated $31.2 million over the weekend. The drop was probably a little more than was expected as it plunged by 56 percent over its opening weekend. Still, it won the weekend by $12.4 million over its nearest competitor.
Speaking of their closest competitor, "Wild Hogs" has continued to surprise as they retained second place by garnering another $18.8 million, only a 32 percent decline from last weekend, showing it still has some strength left in it. They've not shocked a lot of people by bridging the $100 million mark for Disney (DIS).
While it probably won't be a surprise for those who like movies like "Premonition," it was plummeted by critics, which fans of the genre obviously neglected to listen to. The film came in third for the weekend with a respectable $18 million.
It has been interesting to see how many films have been blasted by critics which had done really great this year. It just shows that their tastes have nothing to do with public sentiment.
