Chief Executive of Time Warner (TWX) Richard Parsons hasn't shut the door on the possibility that he may run for the office of mayor after he leaves the company when his contract is over in 2008.
When asked at a college forum on whether he was planning on running, he wouldn't give an answer or rule it out either.
“It's not smart to let people push you [into a decision]," he said, explaining why he planned to take time to "cool out" once he leaves the media giant. "It's much better to go off somewhere and clear your mind and figure out what to do next."
One of Parsons chief concerns is that he leave the company with AOL in a strong competitive position in regard to being an advertising supported portal. He wants
to know that there will be "sustainable growth over time."
Concerning breaking up the company, Parsons said that he believed the company needed scale to compete, a response to Carl Icahn's belief that the company would be better off smaller and leaner.
With being considered a strong diplomat in business, he just might be a good mayor as well.
