It didn't take long for ABC to fill the shoes of former Lifetime Entertainment CEO Betty Cohen, as Anne Sweeney announced that they've picked Andrea Wong to head the company. She takes on the role just a few weeks before the upfront begins.
Wong was considered one of the frontrunners for the job as she's been executive vice president-alternative programming, specials and late night for ABC since 2004. Her title will be president-CEO at Lifetime. She'll lead Lifetime Televison, Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime Real Women and Lifetime Digital.
"Lifetime is one of the most distinct, powerful and evocative brands on television, and I'm thrilled that Anne and John have entrusted me with the opportunity to shepherd it into the future," Wong stated. "I'm especially looking forward to
working with the incredibly talented group of people at Lifetime to unearth future growth opportunities that will extend and deepen Lifetime's marketplace dominance."
President of the Disney-ABC Television Group and Hearst Corporations John Conomikes made the announcement. Lifetime Entertainment is a joint venture of the two companies.
