It looks like things in India will heat up even more, as not only was there the big controversy with Richard Gere publicly kissing Shilpa Shetty, but now actress Aishwarya Rai will break with Indian tradition and continue on with her acting career after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan last week. It was the biggest wedding in the history of Bollywood.
In India it is expected that once women marry, they are to then give up their careers and become a housewife. But with the approval of her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, she will continue on acting.
Amitabh says, "Jaya and I have insisted that Aishwarya must continue with her acting career. There is no problem or issue with us.
"They will live with us. This decision came voluntarily from both Abhishek and Aishwarya."
Aishwarya has decided to take the name of her new husband though.
