The American Black Film Festival originally was hosted in Acapulco, Mexico, and from there went to Miami, Florida until last year. This year they're making another move as they decided to take the festival to Los Angeles, said the founder Jeff Friday.
The festival is now in its 11th year and will be held October 25 to 29.
"The move to Los Angeles is an important part of the festival's evolution," Friday said. "We intend to work more closely with the studios and create a more potent
marketplace for buyers and producers of independent black cinema."
The mission stated on their Web site is "to strengthen the black filmmaking community through resource-sharing, education, artistic collaboration and career development."
