In separate communications CBS Radio (CBS-A) and NBC News (GE) said that they will suspend Don Imus for two weeks off the air because of comments made about women's college basketball team Rutgers. The suspension will begin on April 16.
On NBC News' part, they said that Imus' return to television depends upon his "ability to live up to his word."
It all started when Imus referred to the Rutgers University basketball team members as "nappy-headed hos," which triggered immediate outrage and response.
For his part Imus apolgized on his show on April 6, saying that what he said was "thoughtless and stupid." He also apologized on Al Sharpton's syndicated radio show, repeating that in the future he would be more careful with the type of humor he uses.

Imus did apologize. He made every effort to say he was wrong. With assurance he would never go there again why can't a man who has been in the radio field for a long time be reinstated in his job
