The follow-up to the award winning miniseries "Band of Brothers" has finally been given the go ahead by HBO Films. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are set to begin filming "Pacific" in Australia sometime this summer.
"We're proud to be reuniting with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg to complete the story of the American combat experience of World War II," HBO Films president Colin Callender said. "This epic miniseries is based on the true stories of three Marines whose experiences in the Pacific embodied the unique nature of that theater of war, and dramatize how it profoundly differed from the European front. "
Executive producing the show will be Spielberg and Hanks, along with Gary Goetzman, who worked as a co-executive producer on the "Band of Brothers." They also recruited former "Brothers" co-executive producer Tony To and writer Graham Host to co-executive produce this project as well.
Melbourne Central City Studios will be the home of the production team with filming placed in Far North Queensland and Melbourne.
