The Chinese action star Jackie Chan has launched his own reality show for the purpose of searching for new talent for an upcoming movie he will produce. There has been a huge response as over 100,000 people have already signed up for a chance at making it.
Speaking to an audience which inluded Chinese celebrities and 20 hopefuls, Chan said that "A lot of actors are good at fighting but (their style) is not beautiful, if you can incorporate dance with an ability to perform kung fu, that would be better."
A Chinese TV station located in Beijing called BTV is co-producing the show with Chan. The title of the show in English is "The Disciple." It will run through October of this year with the 10 winners being awarde a role in a movie produced by Chan. The movie will be released before the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, according to Chan.
