The upcoming 25th anniversary of the popular "Knight Rider," has prompted the owner of one of the original cars used in the series to put the vehicle up for sale.
The owner of the car, Tim Russo said that the 25th anniversary seemed a good time to test the market, and is offering the car at $149,995. Russo has it diplayed at a local auto dealership in Dublin, California called Kassabian Motors. He bought the car 10 years ago at an auction in San Diego.
Contrary to the car's performance in the show, a lot of what you see doesn't function on the car. It won't travel at 300 mph like it did in the show, or go into silent mode or spit out an oil slick.
Some of the original features are still in the car though, things like the colored buttons in the cockpit and two working video screens located on the dashboard. The red scanner light on the front of the care is still operational and makes a humming noise while its running.
And in case you were wondering, the car doesn't hold conversations with its driver.
The odd thing is that the car isn't considered legal to drive in the state of California as it doesn't have the necessary, required anti-smog equipment.
The car is actually one of four that was used for the show.
