The new online TV Guide Channel has finally been offered up in public beta (testing) after a long wait.
The site will bring together content from almost 60 sites - including the bigger broadcast and cable sites, and a number of other sites along with them. The site won't attempt to aggregate general videos scattered across the Internet, but only those connected to TV shows.
It will use a search tool to allow visitors to find what they want without endless, aimless searching.
"We want to keep the results sets uncluttered and relevant," said Paul Greenberg, general manager, TVGuide.com. "Most people who are coming to TV Guide Online are looking for clips related to a specific show."
Visitors will be able to search for videos by show name, title, actors in them, description, network or keywords.
The site will include video ads running during the online video.
In about a month, there will be other features added to the site which will encourage more interaction for visitors with the ability to rate shows, comment, tag and send to a friend, among other things being added. Greenberg said that the "Guide" should be out of beta by around September.
