Reports have been spreading all over that the Spider-Man 3 movie has already been found on the streets of China in bootleg form. Sony (SNE) responded saying that there is "no case of the film being pirated to date."
"Similar hoaxes and false alarms have occurred prior to the release of other major films," Sony said in a statement. "We have uncovered examples of Spider-Man 2 being sold in Spider-Man 3 boxes in China. But thus far we can find no instance where Spider-Man 3 has appeared on DVD."
The company added that there have been no copies found on the internet to date either.
For the movie itself, if advance ticket sales tell the whole story, it looks like this could be the biggest spidey ever, as ticket outlets are reporting record-breaking sales.
At Fandango.com, tickets are selling four times faster than the original two Spider-Man movies. While at Movietickets.com, they are moving at three times the rate they did with Spider-Man 2.
Spider-Man 3 will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in the U.S on April 30, and will launch on May 4.
