The coverage and publicity concerning the planned concert of Ryan Adams at Stonehenge seems to have worked too well as Adams, because of concerns of the organizers of the concert, was forced to cancel it because of the overwhelming response and fear for public safety.
Adams was scheduled to perform at the Salisbury International Arts Festival on June 5, which was the venue that initiated the concert, located at the historic stone circle.
Promoters made efforts to change the location of the concert saying that there was the possibility of a huge influx of non-ticket holders who may try to watch the show free from a nearby road, which had the possibility of creating huge traffic problems.
That didn't work out so Adams decided to drop the concert.
In a statement, Stonehenge director Peter Carson said, "We are very sorry that Ryan Adams will not be able to perform at Stonehenge, but the demand for tickets was both unprecedented and unforeseen, and we have to put public safety first."
