Sanjaya Malakar has finally been voted off of "American Idol" as Simon Cowell judged his performance as "utterly horrendous." This time evidently the majority agreed with him as they confirmed his words through their votes.
"I'm beginning to sense something here," a grinning Cowell said as Malakar ended up in the bottom three.
Malakar was able to go beyond competitors with more talent because of his ability to gather a core base of fans that loyally voted for him not matter how he performed. Hey, who said it has anything to do with talent; at least in the earlier rounds. It shows you that having charisma counts for something in entertainement.
In spite of his unique run on the show and obvious shortcomings, you get the feeling that you'll hear from him again somewhere.
With the elimination of Sanjaya, that leaves Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, LaKisha Jones, Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle and Phil Stacey as the remaining contestants.
