The decreasing viewership of major broadcast shows has been a concern for the networks as they've been dropping considerably for weeks.
On Sunday one of the usual big shows, "Desperate Housewives," finally broke out some as it increased its viewership by 10 percent over the week before, coming in with a 6.6 rating, helping ABC (DIS) to win the night. But even with that, ABC was only able to garner a 4.4 rating/13 share overall; a fair performance at best. Still it's the alphabets second win of the May sweeps.
ABC swept the entire night as its prime-time shows won all four hours on Sunday. "Brothers & Sisters" took the second-place position, finishing with a 4.4 rating, while "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" followed behind in third with a 3.8.
Fox (NWS-A) was second for the night with a 3.1/9, being led by the hour-long show, "The Simpsons." The show drew a 3.7 for the night.
The best performer for CBS (CBS-A) was their 10 p.m. offering "Without a Trace," which took in a 3.2, while "The Amazing Race" was only able to finish with a 3.0 at 8 p.m. The Eye finished at 2.7/8 altogether.
NBC's (GE) trial of bringing back theatrical movie night started off slow, as "Along Came Polly" could only draw a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 key demo. The Peacock was fourth again with an overall 1.7/5.
