Robert De Niro and Al Pacino have been waiting a long time to work on a film together where they would share significant time onscreen together. They now have the deal in place to do it as the two will play police investigators that are hunting down a serial killer in a film named "Righteous Kill," a thriller from Avi Lerner's Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films.
Commenting on the difficulty in bringing the two acting giants together, Lerner said, "You see those two icons onscreen together for virtually the whole film, (something) never seen before in the history of cinema. It's one of the hardest deals we've ever done to put these two actors together."
It's interesting that it will be filmed in Connecticut and New York, as we talked recently about Massachusetts moving to increase their incentives to draw more filming to their state.
The film is independently financed to the tune of $60 million and will be scripted by Russell Gewirtz.
Producing the project will be George Furla, Emmett, Alexandra Milchan, Boaz Davidson and Avnet. Executive producing will be Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short.
