While there was no surety that Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" was going to return this year, the real estate titan made the decision himself, telling NBC (GE) that he wouldn't be coming back for another season if the show was offered him.
The network didn't include the show in its starting schedule for the upcoming season which may have prompted Trump to make the decision. Even so, the network hadn't completely ruled out the show as it was waiting to see what their rivals were offering up for their new seasons.
In a statement Trump delivered through his organization it said, ""It looks like viewers will have to wait to see what Mr. Trump plans for the future. But if Mr. Trump's past TV success is any indication of the future, then one can anticipate that millions of 'Apprentice' fans will be migrating to his new venture."
"The Apprentice" started off really popular as it averaged almost 21 million viewers in it premiere season. From there it dropped steadily until last season it was only drawing a third of the original audience.
The deal between NBC and Trump remains intact concerning the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants which was renewed this year until 2010.
Wouldn't it be something if Trump has something going with Vince McMahon and the WWE, which Trump was goofing around with earlier this year?
But there's also the possibility that what he is doing will center around a reality show based upon the board game Monopoly we talked about before.
