With some of the comments being thrown around by those that have seen Spider-Man 3, it seems that the film has fallen short of its predecessors.
Here are what some people are saying:
"The third and latest installment in the 'Spider-Man' movie franchise opened strongly in Philippine cinemas Tuesday as audiences packed theatres to overcapacity, cinema managers said."
"It breaks my heart to tell ya not to break a twenty trying to check out Sam Raimi's newest but I wouldn't even bother seeing this again in Imax."
"Raimi and Company follow the bigger-is-better idiom perhaps too closely, stuffing Spiderman 3 with so many bad guys it veers towards Batman & Robin territory."
"The characters in “3” are shallow, plot lines are often not fully developed and an overly complicated collection of villains spurs action, but doesn’t engross as in Spidey 2."
It sounds like there might be too many bad guys in this film and maybe targeting the young male audience too much, as it seems it borders on the juvenile.
While this isn't going to stop people from seeing it the first time, I do wonder if it will have a strong impact on those that may have been considering repeat visits?
That possibly may not be too worrisome either, as I would think those that are repeat visitors are probably young males for the most part anyway.
But this has too be causing some concern for the makers as it cost over a quarter of a $1 billion to make. Of course there's always the DVD market which can make up for it.
The problem here is probably that the first two films in the series were so well received, that it would have been difficult to repeat that a third time. Still it sounds like a number of people are thinking this just isn't near the quality that the original two Spider-Man films were.
