Saying they haven't reached a final decision yet, MSNBC executives have said that Florida Congressman Joe Scarborough has impressed them on his trial runs in the morning slot to replace Imus in The Morning.
At this time Scarborough hosts a newscast on MSNBC called "Scarborough Country" Mondays through Thursday.
“Joe was on a week ago, and he put together a team of people. And I think he really impressed people with his performance,” MSNBC general manager Dan Abrams said. Abrams added that Scarborough will be in Imus's slot this week as well.
Others that are being given an opportunity to fill the slot are Tucker Carlson, David Gregory and Jim Cramer, along with other radio personalities.
Since MSNBC dropped Imus, ratings for the show have plunged. In the last month Imus was on the air, the show received a 0.4 rating and had 316,000 households watching in the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. In May it has averaged an 0.2 rating with 177,000 households watching, a full 50 percent drop from March.
