
While true fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy probably wouldn't care about what reviewers of the newly released "The Children of Hurin" would say, nonetheless, so far reviews have been good for the book; a prequel to the "Lord of the Rings."
Elizabeth Hand wrote in The Washington Post that "Hurin" was grand, epic storytelling and a reminder, if one was needed, of Tolkien's genius in creating an imaginary world that both reflects and deepens a sense of our own mythic past."
Since its release on April 17, it has topped a number of best-seller lists. Worldwide copies are are over 900,000 as of this writing.
Tolkien's son Christopher has been working and editing his father's work for the last 30 years, which Tolkien had started in 1918, but never finished.
At this time film rights haven't been optioned yet as Tolkien's estate is waiting for feedback from the reading public before pursuing that avenue.
