The saga of the Richard Gere kiss and hug of Indian actress Shilpa Shetty continues as Shetty requested that the Indian Supreme Court change the obscenity case to to a closer court so she can battle the allegations, said her legal representative.
Her lawyer, Anand Grover, said that she asked that the case be transferred to Mumbai, where she resides.
The uproar came at an AIDS awareness event in New Delhi when a judge issued an arrest warrant for Gere for saying he broke India's pubic obscenity laws.
Most of the protests came from Hindu hard-liners who held rallies in a number of cities and had Gere burned in effigy.
On the other side of it there was also drew criticism from other sides as some Indian lawyers said the issue had no legal merit.
The judge who issued the warrant has been transferred to another jurisdiction.
Gere did end up apologizing for any offense that he may have caused.
