Toshiba is partnering with movie studios and technology companies to promote their line of high-definition DVD players.
Last year the partnership, called HD DVD Promo Group, was put together to let people know about the advantages of the technology behind HD DVD, and include along with Toshiba, Intel (INTC), Hewlett-Packard (HP), HBO, Warner Bros. (TWX), Universal and Microsoft (MSFT).
Their major effort this year is in promoting in movie theaters through trailers in the major films which talk to people about the improvements that HD DVD add to their movie experience; including titles that will be released in the format this year which will number 300, the added quality of sound and the interactive features included.
Picture quality for the format runs at six times higher resolution than regular DVDs, and you get much more capacity for audio. It runs across multiple products like the Microsoft Xbox, Toshiba's HD DVD player and HP laptops.
Another place they've been promoting the technology has been at thelookandsoundofperfect.com Web site, where you can find out more about releases and the advantages of using HD DVD.
Toshiba is also including in-store rebates on specific HD DVD players for the promotion which will be offered at the same time the HD DVD release of the "The Complete Matrix Trilogy."
