
Led by their Dateline special where Matt Lauer interviewed Princes Harry and William, NBC (GE) handily won the primetime ratings on Monday night. Also helping the NBC cause was the season finale of "Deal or No Deal." On the cable side, Kyra Sedgwick and "The Closer" broke its own primetime cable record for TNT.
For the "Dateline" special, it ended up with a 4.1 rating/12 share in the 18-49 demo, finishing with 12.2 million overall viewers. That's Datline's highest rating since January of 2005.
The season finale of "Deal or No Deal" brought its season to a close with a winning 3.1/10 in the 18-49 age group in the 8 pm slot.
Preliminary estimates show "The Closer" bringing in over 8.8 million viewers, an increase over their 8.3 million former record in last year's debut. It drew more viewers than any other channel in the 9 o'clock hour, while taking fourth in the key 18-49 demo with 2.2/6.
For other broadcast shows, Fox's (NWS-A) "Hell's Kitchen" had a strong showing, taking in a 3.4/9 in 18-49, with 7.3 million viewers tuning in.
CBS (CBS-A) had some good results from their repeat show, being led by "CSI: Miami" which scored a 2.8/8 and 9 million overall viewers. "Two and a Half Men" was right behind "CSI" with 2.7/8 in 18-49, and 9.2 million viewers.
with ABC (DIS), their top show for the night was "Wife Swap" with a 2.3/7 in 18-49, and 5.9 million viewers.
In the 18-49 key demo, the estimated averages for Monday night were: NBC, 3.2/9; Fox, 2.5/8; CBS, 2.2/7; ABC, 1.8/5.
