Saying that it was "just too much too soon," Kelly Clarkson let her fans know that she had to cancel her summer tour because of low ticket sales. Just a couple days before she fired her manager, Jeff Kwatinetz of The Firm management group.
Clarkson said on her Website, "In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won't be coming out to tour this summer. The fact is that touring is just too much too soon.
"But I promise you that we're going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better."
This comes not too long after a reportedly heated battle between Clive Davis, who manages the RCA label that Clarkson records for. Clarkson has said that while there has been some tension, the battles were exaggerated.
"There's always this battle, and it's not a bad battle to have," she explained. "I mean, you obviously don't want `yes' people around you. And, obviously, (Davis) and others at the label have been in the business far longer than I have. So you obviously take their opinions in."
While this can't be considered very good news with her new album out on June 26, it may not hurt the sales too much. Obviously it depends on the quality.
As far as the planning of this tour goes, it was a disaster. Whether this was Clarkson's "gut" feeling that pushed for its creation, or her former manager, it was really the wrong decision. Clarkson's right: it was "too much too soon."
Tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase she said at her Web site.
